The Knights of Columbus councils' linked auxiliary make up the Columbiettes, a group of Catholic women devoted to our patronesses, the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Thérèse the Little Flower, and St. Joan of Arc.
The approval and endorsement of the council that a Columbiette Auxiliary is linked with is the sole factor that allows it to operate.  One of our purposes is to be aid of the council spiritually, socially, and financially. The Columbiette Auxiliary upon request aids said council in all its endeavors.

Our purpose:

  • To promote the spiritual, social, and charitable welfare of our members.

  • To instill a steadfast conviction to the proper place and function of Catholic women in safeguarding the religious, civil, and economic rights of all Catholics.

  • To rely upon the intercession of Mary, our Mother, and model, for guidance in guarding the common good, and to work through her, on loving and aiding all members of the human family and to give assistance to the Knights of Columbus in all their activities upon request.

Our History

In 1939, Monsignor J. Francis McIntyre, at that time Chaplain of the New York Chapter Knights of Columbus, and who later became Cardinal McIntyre of Los Angeles, California, seeing great numbers of women coming out of a Communist rally at Madison Square Garden, conceived the idea of a ladies organization to work with  the Knights of Columbus. The New York Chapter Knights of Columbus formulated a plan for such an organization. Their plan called for the establishment of Auxiliaries in each Council and to coordinate the efforts of all under the direction of one parent group. On March 2, 1939 the first Columbiettes were instituted in New York City. Since that memorable day, many new auxiliaries were formed and eventually State Councils and a Supreme Council were established. The Columbiettes are now an international organization of Catholic women presently established in the United States and Canada.

Our Auxiliary was chartered on April 16, 2005. We had forty-three original members and have grown to over one hundred and fifteen.

Our Emblem

Saint Thérèse, the Little Flower – She embraced every chance to make sacrifices because of her intense desire to serve the Almighty God.  â€‹
